The GTA 6 release time is midnight local time on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar confirmed this in a support article updated on November 3, so the game unlocks region by region rather than at one moment worldwide.

What Rockstar confirmed

Rockstar’s support page on regional pre-load and release times says the game releases at “midnight local time on November 19, 2026, in all regions”. That applies to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The same page repeats the pre-load times. On PS5, the download opens at midnight local time on November 10. On Xbox, it opens at the same moment everywhere: 12 a.m. GMT on November 10.

GTA 6 release time by region

Because each store region unlocks at its own midnight, players in the Pacific go first. Regional PlayStation Store listings show the full rollout taking about 19 hours. Here are the main regions, with the matching time in India:

What about the US West Coast?

Rockstar says midnight local time. However, the PlayStation Store listings group the USA and Canada into one entry at 05:00 UTC, which is midnight on the East Coast. If that listing holds, players on the West Coast could start at 9 p.m. PT on November 18.

Rockstar has not clarified this. So check the countdown on the game’s page in your console library for your exact time.

Xbox unlock times

Rockstar’s statement covers Xbox too, so expect midnight local time there as well. However, the Xbox Store does not show a country-by-country schedule the way the PlayStation Store does, so the exact Xbox times are less clear.

Warning

Some fans plan to switch their console region to New Zealand to start early. Rockstar has not endorsed this, so we would not risk it on launch night.

How to be ready the moment it unlocks

  • Pre-load early. Digital pre-orders can download from November 10, and the game needs up to 212 GB. Our pre-load guide shows how.
  • Stay connected. Leave your console online in rest or sleep mode, so updates finish before midnight.
  • Buying a boxed copy? Physical copies are code-in-box editions that go on sale on November 12, so redeem and download yours early. See our pre-load news for details.

Also, Rockstar says it will add a free printable cover-art poster and a map of Leonida to its website on November 19. For everything else arriving on launch day, read our launch round-up and the launch FAQ.
