On August 27, 2026, Rockstar gave GTA 6 its biggest gameplay showing yet: an “extended look” that premiered on Netflix hours before it reached YouTube. Captured on PlayStation 5, the showcase followed Jason and Lucia around Vice City. Here are the biggest reveals.

Switching between Jason and Lucia

When the pair are together, switching between them is instant. When they are apart, the swap takes a few seconds and uses a camera transition similar to GTA V’s three-character system.

A six-star wanted level

The wanted meter now goes up to six stars, one more than recent GTA games. A separate Criminal Profile tracks your reputation over time, similar in spirit to Red Dead Redemption 2’s honour system.

Combat and bullet time

Gunplay looked sharper than GTA V’s, and a slow-motion aiming mode similar to Red Dead’s Dead Eye was shown.

A world that reacts

NPC interactions use an expanded version of the system from Red Dead Redemption 2. One moment showed the player choosing whether to pet or scold a dog, followed by an icon suggesting the choice was recorded.

Activities

  • Track racing
  • Jet skis and boats
  • Weight lifting
  • Scuba diving

No microtransactions at launch

According to GameSpot’s report, the single-player game launching in November will not include microtransactions. Rockstar has not detailed its online plans.
