Rockstar released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on May 6, 2025, just days after announcing the game’s first delay. It became the most-watched video game trailer launch ever, with 475 million views across platforms in 24 hours.
What the trailer shows
Where the first trailer centred on Lucia, Trailer 2 introduced Jason Duval and showed how the pair’s partnership begins. It was captured on PlayStation 5 and set to “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters.
Spoiler: the trailer’s story beats
The trailer hints that a job goes badly wrong and pushes Jason and Lucia into a much bigger conspiracy, which Rockstar has since confirmed is the setup for the story.
A huge website update
Alongside the trailer, Rockstar’s official GTA VI site added around 70 screenshots plus profiles for characters and locations across Leonida. This is where Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Real Dimez and the rest of the supporting cast were first introduced.
An award winner
Trailer 2 later won Best Game Trailer at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards.
