Grand Theft Auto VI will target 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson said in interviews during August 2026 that current builds aim for 30 fps on consoles.

Key Facts

  • Target frame rate: 30 fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
  • 60 fps mode: not confirmed
  • PS5 Pro: enhancements not yet detailed

Why 30 fps?

Huge, dense open worlds full of NPCs, traffic and physics are among the most demanding games to run. Rockstar’s focus has always been simulation detail, and Red Dead Redemption 2 also ran at 30 fps on consoles at launch.

What about the PS5 Pro?

This is the biggest unknown. Rockstar has not said what the PS5 Pro version improves, or whether any console will get a higher frame-rate option at launch or in a later update.

Warning

Some sites claim a 60 fps mode is “confirmed”. It is not. Wait for Rockstar’s official specs or launch-day performance tests.
