Jason Duval is one of the two playable protagonists of Grand Theft Auto VI. He grew up around grifters and crooks, served in the Army, and now drifts through life in the Leonida Keys, doing work for local drug runners.
Who is Jason Duval?
Rockstar describes Jason as a man who wants an easy life, but trouble keeps finding him. After the Army, he ended up working for Brian Heder, an old-school drug runner in the Keys. In return, Brian lets him live rent-free in one of his properties, as long as Jason handles the dirty work.
Everything changes when he meets Lucia Caminos. Rockstar has compared their story to Bonnie and Clyde: a criminal partnership that pulls both of them into something much bigger than a single job.
Jason in the trailers
Trailer 2, released on May 6, 2025, put Jason front and centre and showed how his partnership with Lucia begins. Also, the Netflix Extended Look in August 2026 showed players switching between the two leads: the swap is instant when they are together and takes a few seconds when they are apart.
- Played as: one of two switchable leads
- Home turf: the Leonida Keys
- Connections: Lucia Caminos, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton
What we don’t know yet
Rockstar has shared only short profiles before launch, so we do not know how big a part Jason plays in the story or which missions they appear in. However, we will update this entry from launch day on November 19, 2026, with missions, locations and story details, and we will hide any spoilers behind spoiler boxes.
Every fact on this page comes from Rockstar’s own character profiles, the trailers or the official website, and each one is listed in the sources below. Also, we never add rumours or leaked details to a profile. So if a field in the fact sheet is empty, it means Rockstar has not confirmed it yet.
Meanwhile, meet the rest of the cast in our characters directory and the GTA 6 characters guide, or see where the story takes place in the locations directory.
